Default 205 section width too narrow for an 8'' wheel?

I know 6-7 would be ideal but is this just not feasible? Aware that the rim will likely have no protection. I have 205/50-17's M3's i want to put on 17x8 wheels...
thks

Default I would say no to using 205 (edited)

to know for sure - go the the tire mfr website and look up the specifications - they will tell you the rim width - but off hand I think 205 is just too narrow for 8"

Yes, most tires are max rim width of 7.5 for 205 width tires.
