Dunlop FM901 review.
The tires are 235/40-18 and they are mounuted on 18x8 BBS VZ, ET37. I have them on my 2001 A4 1.8T. The car is lowered, with the Audi Eurosport springs.
On the highway, these tires are more quiet than the 235/40-17 Michelin Pilot Sports they replace(also on BBS VZ, 17x8, ET 35). At highway speeds ranging from 55 up to 120 these tires were noise-free. I do have an APR snub-mount, so a little noise and vibration is transmitted through that, but no tire hum or whine at all. Also, I did not notice any tramlining in the city or on the highway... the tires are very stable and track very straight.
In the city, the tires perform very well. Nice ride, absorb bumps nicely, quiet... I have rubbed the front fenders a few times, but only when trying to maneuver up some of the lousy entrances here in Houston. If I am going up an entrance and the car is at an angle, I can get it to rub, otherwise, rubbing is not an issue. I do plan to roll the fenders.
No substantial rain in Houston yet, so I can't comment on the wet grip or hydroplaning issues.
All-in-all, I will buy these tires again. Thanks to the Tirerack for the wheels/tires!
No photos yet, but will try to post some this week.
