Default FYI for NorCal-ers looking for a tire installation shop. DO NOT go to Carrera Motors in San Mateo...

Found them in the Tire Rack recommended installer list for my area & had Tire Rack drop ship my 4 Dunlop 8000's there. That was great, but Carrera Motors charged $160 to mount & balance my tires!!! Yes that's right $160!! (40 bucks per wheel!?!) I expected the cost of installation to be a little higher (the website says $12-25/wheel), but $160 seems outrageous.

Needless to say, I will not be returning.

Just thought I'd pass the word along to you guys.

Default Recommended shops are....

America's Tire in Union City (Alvarado Road) - I go there.

America's Tire in San Jose (El Camino) - Corey and Sharon go there

Wheel Techniques in Campbell (Winchester Blvd) - Tirerack recommends

Default Actually the America's Tire Place is in Santa Clara on Stevens Creek

They're very familiar with our cars and their various wheels.

Default I think that's pretty typical...

places will quote you a low price for actually "mounting" the wheel... but then they add on stuff like new valves, balancing, disposal fee for old tires, and it all ads up pretty quickly.
