Good all-around 18" tire
My B5 sedan recently passed on to my wife (picked up a B7 Avant for me) and it needs a new set of tires for its 18" summer wheels. It'll run dedicated winter wheels w/snows. I'm trying to pick a well-rounded 225/40/18. Since it's for her, things like treadwear, noise, and value are more important than pure performance, although I want a decent tire. I could do an all-season or summer.
Basically I want a good all-round tire that lasts pretty long, isn't noisy, and is relatively cheap. The wheels curtently have older Kumho Ecstas so I was thinking about the Kumho Ecsta MX at $119/each as a starting point. But that seems more like a performance-on-a-budget tire, so I'm open to suggestions. Thanks all.

The MX is neither quiet nor long lasting. Better options for something focusing more on longevity and noise while still having good handling and wet traction would include the General Exclaim UHP and Kumho ECSTA SPT.

Thanks. I ended up going with the Bridgestone RE960AS, figured an all-season is appropriate for this application. Seems like a solid tire. Just placed my order at Tire Rack.
