I started putting my 17"s back on today after sunday's autox... Taking of the front right wheel, the bolt holes under the hat ( I assume it's the hat) disappeared. Now I know they are just off to the right or the left somwhere, but how the hell do I get them aligned back with the holes in the hat? I have no idea how I did this, the wheel came of normally.

turn the whole hat in either direction. The plastic core tool or a cut down bolt work fine too for fast swaps. If you have a press drill a small countersunk hole and put a screw on it.
