Default How bad are spacers?

Ok, so it turns out that the Ace Lola don't quite clear the Big Red calipers. A 1/8" (3mm) spacer should do, just to get minimal clearance. Problem is, when you go off-roading (those of you who know me, you know what I am talking about), then all the crap gets in between the rim and caliper and both end up chewed up. So I am thinking about getting 1/4" (6mm) spacers. Question is, on a 17*7.5 rim, how bad is that for overall behavior? Especially given that this will be a track wheel - the Ronal LZ 17" street wheel fits (just barely). I will put spacers only on the front, but still would like ... the wheel to stay there =)

Thanks!<p>Stan

Default I have 5mm spacers that I will eventually use...

If the Ace Lola doesn't fit on your car...it definitely won't fit on my car...crap..

I would suggest a 5mm spacer...just to be safe...don't forget to get slightly longer lug bolts.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=3821"><br><br>

Default Steve, why? I thought Stan's big reds are bigger than S4 brakes. Maybe Lola 18's will fit.

Default Well...we could check...Stan lives in the town I work in

He is only about 2 miles away from my work address....

I actually think that the Porsche big reds "may" not stick
out as far as the OEM S4 brakes. But, then again, I have
been known to be wrong a lot lately. :-(<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=3821"><br><br>

Default Porsche vs. S4

The Porsche brakes are a TAD bigger than the S4 brakes, and definitely bigger than Alcons (if that's what you want eventually). They JUST BARELY scrape the brakes. Thus, on your S4 stock, or esp. with Alcons, they should be fine.

I ordered some 5mm spacers and 32mm bolts, we will see =)<p>Stan

Default I use spacers....

I have 4.5mm, 5mm, and 6.35mm spacers that I switch around on my Fikse's and my Antera track wheels. They are required at all times on the front to clear the stock calipers. I think with the Fikse's clear with the Alcons on, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, for street, I run 4.5mm with Fikse in front, 6.35mm with Fikse in rear. For track, I run just a 5mm spacer in front with the Anteras.<p>Corey S
