Default I checked the archieves, I am more confused now!

I received my Borbet type C's. One thing I forgot to mention when I was buying was the OFFSET. I did not put the wheels on the car and it says ET30 on the back of the wheels. I got 17x7.5 Borbet Type C's with 225/45x17 Sumitomo HTRZ II rubber. I checked the archieves and I saw different numbers from 32 to 35. So what should I do now, send them back!! or are they the rigt offset. BTW, I got the wheels from The TireRack.

Default I have 16x7.5 ET 30 Borbet Type C...

As far as I know, this is the only offset for the A4 in this wheel. I initially bought mine with Dunlop SP8000 225/50. The Dunlops tend to run a bit wider than other tires of the same size. The edge of the tread on the 225s was barely outside of the fender (more so in the front). I had the 225s replaced with 205/55 (also SP8000). It looks much better now. In your case, I'd suggest mounting one side and see how it looks. The offset will work fine; it will just be a matter of if you like the look. Maybe your tires aren't as wide as the 225 Dunlops. Let us know what happens and take some pics if possible. HTH.
CraigB

Default Same here. Craig and I had this discussion last summer...

I also have the SP8000s mounted on my Type Cs, and yes, they do stick out just a little bit, particularly in the front. It looked really weird to me at first, and then I kind of got used to it, but a wheel with an offset in the 35-40 range would probably be better in general (although 225 tires will have more clearance from the suspension pieces with a 30mm offset wheel). I'll probably go to 205s after these wear out. By the way Craig, did the people who mounted your 205s ever indicate anything like maybe the 7.5" wheel width is too wide for 205s?

Default 7.5 and 205s...

The SP8000 205s look great on the 7.5 width. Just enough curb protection (though I've never tested it). I had my local Discount Tire do the swap; they didn't say anything negative about 205 on a 7.5" rim. I still have the 225/50s and may get a 16x7.5 ET35 to put those on (Momo Arrow or TSW Revo), when I wear out the 205s (if not before). I really did like the way the 225s handled. I hate learning the hard way sometimes.
CraigB

Default Re: 7.5 and 205s...

I didn't think there would be a problem, but I thought I'd ask anyway. My Type Cs and SP8000s go back on my car this weekend, and the studded Hakka 1s come off (due to state regs), even though it's still snowing in the mountains here. Roughly a 300" base at my "local" ski area. I'm definitely looking forward to having some real grip again. Of course, I'm also shopping for an older 911 right now to replace my Honda as a second car, and I'm definitely looking forward to that. Fun, fun, fun!!!

Default I'm about ready to put mine back on too...

If you noticed above (post by JimSr), I'm also thinking about getting a set of 16x7.5 ET35 so I can use my 225/50s. I also have a set of Michelin Pilot HX 225/50s that came on my new toy (see link). If I can use the 225/50s I'll be set for summer tires for a while. 8^) BTW - the snow is going pretty fast around here. Nobody's base really got much above 70". I guess I'll be riding my bike sooner this year (not that I ever really stop).
CraigB

Craig's (latest) New Toy
