NEW THREAD***RE01R Special.
The old thread is getting a bit ponderous so I'll start a new one with updates and more info.
First, ALL of the tires are sold out, with the exception of the following sizes that are in stock as of 2:15 eastern time 3/3/2009:
195/50R15 $77 each
205/55R16 $74 each 2005 production date
225/50R16 $59 each 2005 production date
205/45R17 $88 each
235/45R17 $116 each
245/40R17 $103 each 2005 production date

Q: What is the RE01R? Why all the buzz about this tire? I almost never see Gary@Tirerack doing much more than answering questions, let alone advertising a tire special! Why have so many sold out so quickly!?
A: This is a phenomenal deal on an outstanding tire that has better dry grip than Michelin PS2, Goodyear F1 Asymmetric and other tires, and at a *much* reduced price that has myself and other forum members excited about the deal! The only true competitor to this tire is the (much more expensive) Dunlop Sport Z1 Star spec. The Star spec is slightly faster in autocross and road racing, but has much more tread noise and is less "civilized" for daily driving. The RE01R is ride and noise levels you can live with for daily driving but offers grip levels beyond that of the best Max performance street tires on the market so that you can really attack those off-ramps and have an advantage in weekend autocrossing or even the occasional drivers school or track day!

or any size not in the list of 'in stock' sizes posted earlier in the thread.
Can you get them?
A: I'm sorry, those sizes are so far oversold that there is almost zero chance that a new order for it will be filled...no matter how long you wait. I'll try to add to the above list as things get more hopeless in certain sizes.
