Default okay to replace just 2 tires, not all 4?

Any serious issues in replacing two tires instead of all 4? My Conti's are about 1/4 of the way through their lifespan. However, one of the fronts took a hit today and is missing a significant chunck of rubber in the sidewall. Enough so that I consider it at the end of its life.

Was thinking I would like to replace only a matched set in the front, as opposed to all four.

Any opinions?

Default If a quattro, must be same barnd/model of tire and within 4/32nd tread depth.
