Question for Gary@TireRack: BBS VZ or Kosei K1 TS?
I'm trying to decide on new wheels for a 99.5 A4 w/ upgraded brakes (clearance equivalent to HP2 calipers.)
I am looking for a strong yet NOT heavy and NOT too expensive wheel in 17" size. If $$$ were no object, I would go with the SSR COMP GT2 in 18", but I cannot afford them.
What do you think about the BBS VZ vs the Kosei K1 TS as far as weight and strength?
Any other suggestions for this price range?
Thanks in advance,
-Jose Sinibaldi
PS/ I do a few track events per year (4 more or less.)
Ahh... Nice shot! Well, one can always dream...

Re: Question for Gary@TireRack: BBS VZ or Kosei K1 TS?
Although we don't have exact weights on the 17" VZ, we're showing the 18" version at 23lbs, so it is likely that the 17" VZ weighs more than the K1-TS which comes in at 15lbs in 17". We've had very good experience overall with the K1-TS for strength and durability issues, it is an excellent value, no other wheels comes close in this price range.

wheels

BBS VZ or Kosei K1 TS? More questions...
Gary, first, thanks for the prompt response. but here are a few more questions.
Does the Kosei has the caps with red letters and red stems? Can we get the caps and the stems polished instead of the red?
How about the BBS VZ, is this one strong enough? Someone posted a weight of 19lbs for the 17" size. Do you have one available to measure? I'm thinking of getting the VZ for the street and the Kossei for the track (at a later time of course...)
As far as tires, I am looking at the PZero Nero M+S. Any other suggestions? And, will the 255/40-17 fit inside the BBS VZ and into my A4?
Regards,
Dr.S.

Re: BBS VZ or Kosei K1 TS? More questions...
Unfortunately no other cap or valve stems colors are yet offered by Kosie on the TS. I would have complete confidence in the quality of either of these wheels.
The Nero M+S is certainly a great choice for an all season, however you get get a grippier tire in the dry by using a summer-only tire instead.
