Question on wheel size
I have 21" wheels with summer tires on my SQ5. I have been researching availability of all season tires. I think I have found a solution in 265/40 which should fit. But all this research leads me to wonder what are the advantages/disadvantages of larger wheels? Is it just cosmetic? Do larger wheels make for a better ride or better handling? Or is it the other way around (according to some)?

A 21" on an a Q5 is done for pretty much all appearance. 19" is plenty on a Q5. Beyond that you will definitely sacrifice more ride quality than you will make up in cornering without suspension upgrades. The tire and/or wheel selection is better and much cheaper.

Thinner sidewalls means a stiffer tire, which is better for handling on turns. That is the only advantage of larger wheels/low profile tires, other than appearance. Otherwise, larger wheels are worse in every other way (ride quality, acceleration, reliability, cost).
