Yesterday driving down 95 in CT crossed a section of the road under construction where they had scraped off the road surface. I had an instant flat. My rim had shattered I was going under 60mph. Check out the photos. Can't help but think a factory rim would have held up better.

Those look like pretty low profile tires - what size are they?

The wheels are from OE Wheel distributor. the size of tires are 255 35 R 18 plus 1 from OEM.

All of our wheels meet dot, jwl, tuv (the most difficult) certification. they are side impact and load bearing tested. In order to destroy a wheel like that means you must have hit something serious not just a standard pot hole.

Scott is it possable that the wheel may have had a defect? If it were more serious than stated don't you think there would be damage to something other than the wheel? I was shocked when I saw the wheel I thought we had a blow out. This happened in trafic and no other car had this happen. The wheels were purchased in November of 09. The car by the way is a 01 A6 4.2.
