Default Some info regarding unsprung weight..

When turning the steering wheel at 100mph, each additional kilogram of weight at the wheel is translated into an additional 16kg of effort needed at the rim. There is a story when Michael Schumacher went to Ferrari, he insisted on BBS wheels and, when these replaced the originals, he reduced his lap time by 0.3 of a second. -<i>Audi Driver</i><p>

Which helps Michael Schumacher in F1...

Three tenths of a second in F1 or CART will separate first place from 15th, but in terms of a 22 vs a 24 lb wheel on your car in daily driving will you see the difference..? Probably not.

Certainly you want to keep the weight down as much as possible, but you need to also realistically look at how you drive, where you drive & what you need for your application.

Are you going for cosmetics & appearance?
Are you using the car for racing/autoX/driving schools?
Do you just want soemthing that improves appearance and maybe to get an ideal blend of the above?

I see a lot of emphasis placed on weights here on the forum more than about anywhere else (except from the Miata guys, perhaps, but I think it is worth mentioning that you should also realistically look at when, how & where you are using the car also to truly determine hat level of importance weights add to the car.
