Default V rated tires?

Have a '01 A4 2.8 Quattro Sports Package. Tires that came with the car are Dunlop 8000's (205/55R16). Live in Mountain View, CA; so, snow is not routinely anticipated.

So far, I've been very happy with the tires in heavy rain. But, experience with my previous Camaro Z28 is that Z rated tire compounds wear very quickly.

Can anyone recommend a V rated 205/55R16 performace/all-season tire? Capability emphasis is on rain rather than snow, but survivability in snow is a plus.

Default Getting the V rated tire won't help with treadwear, and may adversely affect handling.

The speed rating doesn't directly correlate to treadwear. All the tires mentioned below are Z rated.

Your SP8000's should last between 20-30K depending on conditions and driving habits.

SP9000's are better for wet (not for use in snow), and they will last 30-40K. Dry grip will be compromised a bit from the SP8000's.

SP5000's should be good for all season use, and reportedly work well in rain. You should get 30-40K out of these (I believe the treadwear rating on these is slightly higher than the 9000's, and the dry grip should be a bit better as well).
