Default You need a better place - look for one with the link I provided

If there is a Discount Tire or America Tire place near you try them

Default and which wheels do you have?

there is the single spoke wheel:

and the double spoke wheel:

The single spoke wheels are known to warp and the double spokes are incredibly heavy and known to bend.

Have a Hunter Roadforce balance done. This will definitley tell you if your tires, wheels or both are out of round.

Default Re: and which wheels do you have?

I have the single spoke, I will try the Hunter ref done. So...I left this out..sorry, but it only happens when i accel between 50-70mph up hill. I read another post stating it might be my Trans Control Unit. Transmission was replaced about 15g miles ago.

Default Very common symptom in the allroad

Definitely search the allroad board. In many cases the Roadforce balance fixes it other times its any or all of the other things I mentioned.

Default Just out of curiosity...

...Why are OEM Pirelli tires "complete garbage"? I am on my second set of P6's (the OEM set that came on the car, and then an exact replacement set). I found them to be even-wearing, good handling, relatively quiet, and I was just hitting the wear bars at 35,000 miles when I replaced the OEM tires.I just thought I would ask, since your expertise in tires must be greater than that of the OEM Audi engineers who specified the tires. You should be sure to let them know so they can change the OEM tire specifications..

Default 99% of the allroad board agrees on this.

they get out of round easily
their cornering ability is terrible
they wear out quickly
they suck in the dry
they suck in the snow
they suck in the wet

Compare the ratings (link below) to pretty much anything else in the category and these are overpriced substandard tires. They ranked 16 in a field of 21. Combine that with firsthand experience and similar impressions from other allroaders and any logical person will come to same conclusion. The uneducated buyer is the main purchaser of these, which is a shame.

P.S. your tone sucks too. I'm trying to help someone out here and all you are offering are snotty comments. In the future keep them to yourself.

Lose the sarcasm, do some reseach and maybe you will learn something.<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=HPAS&amp;width=225%2F&amp;r atio=55&amp;diameter=17&amp;tireSearch=true&amp;au toMake=Audi&amp;autoYear=2002&amp;autoModel=Allroa d&amp;autoModClar=Standard%20Model&amp;

Default Yes, RFB will tell. (more)

But in general, you can also spin them and simply look at the lips.

Shadows can play havoc though, and most techs dont seem capable of looking carefully. But YOU can.

Default good luck! Note; these cars are crazy sensitive to balance and roundness

..especialyl S models and those with stiffer suspensions.

So be diligent, and fussy. Ignore when people say "that's too small to cause the problem". You will get it right.
