What's the difference between Dunlop SP Sport 8000 and 8000 E??? What's the "E"???
#2
The "E" means that you have an OEM tire. The only difference between the two is...
that the 8000E has a rim protector on the tire (little section of rubber that sticks out farther than the rim to protect the rim if it rubs against a curb). Otherwise the tires are the exact same. The 8000 comes in more sizes than the 8000E and is also considerably cheaper.

I think there's more to it than that...
There's more to it, but you'll have to search the archives to find it. DonP? or someone else maybe has a nice graphic of the differences on his/their site. One is made in Germany (the "E") the other in Japan, the cord/belt wrapping is a bit different, I think the E is more reinforced, all coming from memory. Try the archives search.

Well...
You guys may very well be right but I think that those differences would hardly be noticable concidering the tires are pretty much identical in design.
Dan

I've owned both....
On my last A4 I had the Sport 8000s and my new A4 has the 8000Es, and I would say there is a huge difference in the tires. The OEM 8000Es are flat out awful tires, I cannot wait to get them off my new A4. THe 8000s I had on my last A4 were great, far far better than the "E"s. I don't know what the exact differences are, but there is a serious performance difference neverless.
BTW, the 8000 (non-Es) are out of production now, so getting another one to match it may be hard.
Christian J. Long

Thanks for the post- not much for wear, mostly for the wet value.
