Wheel Offset
Here's a wheel tech question, I currently have 17x7.5 wheels with a 30mm offset and want to by a 18x8 wheel with a 35mm offset. As I understand the difference in the offset brings the 18" wheel 5mm closer to the car body or the hub mounting 5mm further out from the centerline of the wheel. Here's the question, does the added width add 0.25in. or 6.25mm to both sides of the wheel from its centerline?

My question is really about width. Regardless off the offset is the width of a wheel split evenly on either side of the centerline? So if the wheel is 7.5 inches wide, is there 3.75 inches on either side of the centerline of the wheel.
