Wheel and tire question

Wheel and tire question
I have a 2001.5 A4 with the stock suspension and 15" OEM wheels with Eagle LS 205/60/15 tires. I will be placing Blizzaks on these rims for the winter. Next spring I want to upgrade wheels and tires. Everyone tells me to upgrade the suspension but because of where I live, nearly a dirt road and lots of snow, I need the ground clearance. Thus, I will not be lowering the car and will live with the stock suspension. With that in mind, can I go to 17" wheels and slightly larger tires then is recommended to decrease the wheel gap? I understand that the speedometer and all will be off but I can live with that if not to bad. Also, what would be better looking, 16s or 17s with the larger tires? If this is not a good idea, then what would be better, 16s or 17s with the correctly sized tire? Thanks all for taking the time to read this and give your opinions.

You must lower to reduce wheel gap - not much choice there.
Unless you want to have some custom body work done. ;-) Even a higher profile tire won't gain you much. You can do 17's with the non-sport suspension, I did this for a while. But be warned, you will want to upgrade your suspension once you have all the extra grip of a summer tire on a set of 17's.
The other option is a good set of coilovers. Up in the winter, down in the spring.
