Will winter tires/wheels fit: 2013 S4 -> 2018 S4

My mechanic's initial feeling was if it wasn't rubbing, had no visible scraping or and not making any sounds then it was probably fine.
But then he showed his coworker who looked at it and immediately said no way would he drive it that close.
So I ended up switching back to my existing summer wheels and tires for now. I will look into getting some spacers. Thanks for posting those options.
Couple of questions:
- Is 3mm enough?
- Any downside to using spacers? My mechanic said some people like them and some people don't. What's the downside? Potentially hitting inside wheel hull if the wheel ends up too far out?
- I assume I'd use them on all 4 wheels (not just the front which has the bigger calipers).
- Would I use them on my summer wheels also which have good clearance?
Thanks,
Ed

Based on the threads I linked, 2 or 3mm seems to be all they concern themselves with. 3mm spacing is not going to move the wheel into any collision concern with the wheel well. Audi isn't running things that tight stock. Yeah, you'd run them front and rear I assume, if only for a uniform look. No, there's no point running them on the appropriately shaped summer wheels.

So as far as "the spacer will sit on the hub ring while the wheel will not. The wheel will be resting only on the lug bolts." Is this not a good setup? Might it cause other types of issue in the future? Could it weaken the bolts over time?

So the concern is with a spacer taking up the 2-3mm closest to the hub, there's no/less "hub ring" protrusion for the wheel to ride on. You'll also notice the hub edge on the wheel inside is tapered, not straight. So the spacer needs a taper to fit flat as well.
So you need at least a 2mm spacer there to probably safely utilize those wheels. But will 2mm disrupt the hub interface sufficiently? These are real things you need to vet with real people with real business experience.
