Default White smoke and lossing coolant may be blown head gasket

My car has 80K on it.
See if this help you diagnose head gasket leak:

Good luck.

Default 2007 A4 2.0T - heavy exhaust smoke - No CEL

No CEL on the car but after only making right turns and speeding up through 3rd gear, loss of power and huge smoke screen....also throws smoke screens under load (uphill). Already replaced the PCV---any ideas? Would CEL show if it was turbo leak? There's no whining noise from turbo either....Help!

It's almost certainly a cracked valve cover. It's a common issue. Check the underside for hairline cracks. Easy to replace, but a new valve cover might run $300-$400.

Default 2007 2.0T Unsolvable white smoke, lack of acceleration, etc.

Thanks for the reply....I had bought and installed a valve cover for this problem and after installing, it was worse than my original....read there's a chamber from PVC to other side that should not leak when blowing through it..unsure if it would expand under heat??? The one i installed wound up with air coming oit of crack. Returned for full refund. Worth a try to buy another?

Yes, I'd try another. It sounds like the one you returned was faulty. Inspect it closely before installing. Did you buy the previous cover new or used?

I bought the valve cover new, but cheap. Get what you pay for....any recommendations on a reputable parts dealer would be appreciated! Thanks for your feedback!

I've always had success with ECS Tuning. Here's a link: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-volkswagen-audi-parts/valve-cover/06d103469n/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3sHwyLTQ1QIVlIJpCh2ozANXEAQYASA BEgKQYfD_BwE

How does oil get into turbo due to cracked valve cover or leaking valve cover gasket? Just looking for explanation. Does failed diverter valve cause oil issue or just lost of boost alone? I have a 2007 A4 2.0T, loss of boost with smoke in exhaust. Trying to diagnose and do all repair work myself. Thanks in advance.

I think it makes its way through the silver breather tube. I replaced the valve cover on my 2007 A4 2.0T six years ago and my exhaust has been smoke-free ever ever since.
