I have a 2011 A4 Sline

I just notices that my trunk doesn't open by pressing the handle on the trunk.

It opened fine earlier today. However I got home and wanted to get some stuff from the trunk and went to open it with the handle on the trunk while the car is locked. The light on the convenience key flashes however the trunk doesn't open.

It opens with the conveince key and with the release button at the door.

It also opens by the handle when the car is unlocked.

The only issue is that when the car is locked it won't open with the trunk handle.

Any ideas?

Valet is not on. And in mmi the trunk option is set to off.

I don't fully understand what your trying to do. When the car is locked, the boot is also locked. One short press on the boot-key on the remote should unlock the boot but only for ONE access. On a Sedan model, one long press on the remote should make it swing open and then lock again when closed.

The setting in MMI controls if the boot stays locked or unlocks when you unlock the doors. I don't remember if I have it ON or OFF, try both if that is your issue.

When the car is locked I used to be able to just press the handle on the trunk and it would pop open.

Last night it would not do that. It would only open if the car is unlocked which was not the case before.

Of course the boot shall be locked when you lock the car. How would you else lock it?

Maybe the battery in the remote needs replacement. It sounds like the car is not detecting that you are standing close to the trunk...
