Default Airbag light on but no codes?

I have a 2006 A6. I was having a problem with the center seat belt a few weeks ago (very hard to make it engage). A day or two later I notice the airbag light on. I've checked a few times and there are not codes.

Any idea what it could be?

Thanks.

Pat.

Perhaps I know - HAD similar happen on Friday. Just brought in our 2011 A6 avant for its 45k. Tech noticed the air bag light on. No code/MIL but air bag light/ He had to do checking and found that the "igniter" in one of the rear seat belts was defective. These igniters allegedly are used by the air bag computer to determine when to fire: the seat belt actually reads the pounds of force exerted against it by a strapped in body during a crash. The igniter then sends the force value to a computer and it determines if certain air bags need to be deployed. Tech dad to order part (both sides of the belt), and remove rear seat.

I have never heard of this. I asked the tech about this - he said he almost never sees this in C6.5's but he did replace a bunch of seat belts for the same issue in 06 07 08s (early C6 - pre face lift).

Hope this helps

Center rear seat is a problem area on these cars. I had the igniter go bad more than once. They eventually redesigned the igniter.
