If there are no signs of mechanical failure then maybe there is an update for the trans software? Also, maybe disconnecting the battery and letting it sit for 10 mins or so may wipe any learning data that might be corrupted.

There are other things that will limit trans response like valet mode, but many of these would throw some sort of error code.
