Why would dealer sell non-CPO used 2016 A7s?
Gents-
Looking to become an A7 owner, and have been doing a fair amount of forum surfing.
I'm stumped by this scenario though- there are a number of 2016 A7's for sale at an Audi dealer here in Houston; all very low miles (< 12,000 as one would expect) and appear to be in great condition. However, not a single one of them is listed as a CPO vehicle.
Example: Used 2016 Audi A7 For Sale in Houston TX | WAU2GAFC3GN023164
Is this due to the newness of the car? Is this the dealer trying to save money? I just don't get why the CPO process wasn't carried out for these.
Any input appreciated!!

The car has to have 4000 miles or more to be CPO, Being a 2016 which still carries the 4 year/50k miles original warranty, it would be a waste of money for the dealer to CPO the car when it still have that much left on the original manufacture warranty.
you can always ask them to CPO it but you will have to come with the CPO charge or buy CPO later.

Technically, a dealer can't CPO a used Audi that they aren't selling. Some dealers may offer to buy the car, have it certified and sell it back to you as a CPO (within 50K miles). There is about a $2K CPO cost to the dealer and they undoubtedly will want to make a profit on the process as well as cover their time and personnel expense to perform the transactions. There could also be a another sales tax hit on the buyback in some states.
If a dealer is selling a late model previously owned Audi without a CPO, they are trying to be competitive in the markeplace. A price will draw you in and once the hook is placed, they could offer a CPO option along with the other typical stuff they try to attach to the sale. Not everyone is as savvy as our AW members.

Fantastic, I really appreciate this insight guys!
Just to make sure I understand fully- if one got a CPO'd vehicle, that would eliminate the need for an additional warranty during the same time period, correct? I.e. you get a CPO'd vehicle, you are good for 6yrs or 100K miles, for all warranty covered work, right? Does the CPO cover the standard 15k, 25k, 35k, etc maintenance visits as well, or am I confusing that with something else?
Thanks again for the input!

The CPO is not a maintenance agreement. You would have to buy Audi Care which does cover the 15/25/35/45 miles scheduled services (or every 12 months whichever comes first). There are many threads here discussing Audi Care - do a search.
Here's one to get you going:

A CPO warranty does begin at the end of the OEM warranty, either by miles or months. The CPO does not cover all of the things as the the OEM warranty and I believe there's an $85 deductible for each repair visit. Here's the official details:

Massively helpful snagitseven!! I really appreciate the feedback and the links, as well as your time in putting them together. This stuff would have taken me a month and 3 dealer visits to put together (if at all) outside of this forum. Thanks so much for your help on this!

I know exactly the dealer in Houston you mean. Just actually agreed to buy one of their used 2016's today. When I first saw the non-CPO situation I was confused as well because up in Dallas where I live, the dealers certify their 2016's. It made sense once I talked to the dealer and thought about it. With the A7 you have some buyers who like to change cars fairly often and some who will keep them for awhile. The dealer is basically not certifying them now so that buyers can make their own call. Just need to be careful that your taking that into account when you're looking at prices from other dealers. I was quoted a cost of $1350 to certify by the dealer.
