If you see something like this icon when you first put your key in the ignition, there's an immobilizer. If it accepts your key, the light goes off.

Good you had some luck there dreamhope.
Did you find the PIN in the end, or go to the dealer?

Interesting you had ID11. According to Transpondery, 94-97 used ID13, All D2 after 97 used ID48.
In fact, their site doesn't list ID11 at all for any Audi model!

I got a copy of Vag Commander from the bay. Hard to get it to work the first time, but once loaded it took 10 seconds to get the PIN.

You're right: it's ID13; there's no ID11. I got an ID48 first, and it wasn't responsive, so I got an ID13.

How Did you get it to work? I got the Vagtacho cable and software to get the PIN and it cant read the ECU. I wonder if it is the version of software? I'm using 3.1. I ran each one and it couldn't connect. I know the cable is right because 4D0919035AT is the part number for by instrument cluster and it can read it.
Can anyone decipher my screen shots? I Hear that I need to do an EEPROM dump in order to extract the PIN from the HEX code but dont see where to initialize that..

I think NYROBBIE's first guess was correct, sort of.
It is a cyanide Capsule which may come in handy if you have extensive work done at the Stealership and they present you will their invoice. :-)
