Well, swapped out the backup sensor brain and the same problem still exists. Vag com shows an error for the right middle sensor.

Ordered a sensor off amazon and some paint from paintscratch.com. Hope the match is right and the sensor fixes it.

In other news though, I did get my mmi gears replaced. Took less than 2 hours start to finish, so really not too bad. Screen is wayyyyy quieter now opening and closing. Not sure this video will work.

Video did not work, but I'm glad that end of your repairs went well. For you parking aid, if it's not the controller and it's not the sensor(you'll soon find out,) it must be in the wiring or a corroded connector. Nothing else there to break.

It's really quite frustrating when audi says that the module is the problem, and that the wiring and sensor are good, only to find out the module isn't the problem.

Maybe I can reach under there tomorrow and check the connector for corrosion.

Well, that is the part that can cause your problem that if it were to fail would make them the most money.

That is why standard automotive troubleshooting techniques apply to virtually all car repair procedures.

The sticky at the top of the D3 thread mentions this. Plus other tips to help everyone who needs the advice there.

Oh obviously. The only reason I took it to the dealership in the first place is because I was hoping I could get the insurance company to take care of the problem but theyve been a hassle.

I guess it's my mistake for assuming the dealership would know how to diagnose their own cars.

The code you're getting indicates there is a problem somewhere in the circuit.

If you have the time and knowledge, you can go about checking the wiring harness between the module and sensors, including the connectors. Cost is $0.00.

What your dealership did is standard procedure. They don't survive by repairs wirings, but rather by selling overpriced parts and charging you to install them. And even if they get the diagnosis wrong, they're not concerned since they're only paying John Schmuck $20/hr to fix the real issue.

Figured I'd update this thread in case anyone else has a similar issue.

The problem ended up being the sensor itself. Bought a new one off amazon for $20, spent $30 getting the correct paint from paintscratch.com and whammo, good as new.
