Heated Oxygen Sensor? (long)
I had the auto-trans replace with a rebuilt unit from German Trans Axle (portland, OR) at a local trans shop although I had requested a Audi rebuilt unit. (Its a longer story).
After about 400 miles on the highway on a cross country trip the trans went into LIMP mode. Basically it stayed in 3rd gear. Ran fine the next day.
The trans shop had the car scanned by Audi. I was told it was caused by the Oxygen Sensor that put the trans into LIMP mode. I was given the print out of the scan.
My questions are:
1. Can the Oxygen Sensor put the trans into LIMP mode? I've heard of German engineering, but come on!
2. On the print out it reads:
Coding 0011
1 DTC recognized
00555 003
Heated Oxygen Sensor II -G108
No signal
sporadic DTC.
Which Oxygen Sensor is the problem? Driver or Passager Side? Handwritten on the printout reads: Bank #2, Sensor #1, Pre-CAT.
3. Can I bench test the Oxygen Sensor before replacing it to verify it's bad?
