As I recall the 3.6L V8 used a coating for the cylinder wall, and if you hone the cylinder wall for the new piston you will remove this coating and the engine will start to wear and burn oil really fast.

yes my first post i stated that the sleeves are ausil/nikasil and require a special honing process. At this point im realizing a rotating assembly rebuild will just be fruitless money spent because many people have hit 500chp on fully stock 3.6 motors.

Tom That build is incredible! i was thinking getting two 16v lower intake manifolds from a local junk yard and miging some GSXR ITBS. its been done on 16v before. then mig two log style manifolds just like those photos to either a fmic or 2 smic.. im sure numbers of 500+ chp can be achieved with methanol & E85.. devils own worked great on my old 1.8t haha.

as far as turbo choice im still crunching numbers a/r on compressor and turbine housing. Studying power curves and relation to cmf.. and kicking myslef for sleeping in comunity college physics and calc 2

Default Update Heads all buttoned up.. sorta

hey guys! with winter coming and the morning frost and dew outside i didnt feel comfortable leaving the heads in my parents shed. so i took them from my parents house and off to my appartment they went!! while the cast iron manifolds were finally warm and protected from the elements i thought what a perfect time to put the lifters cam bearings and cams back in! with a helpful 16v diy i found on "teh TEX" i was able to line up the cam dots with ease!! ..unfortunately only to figure out that i lost a valve keeper luckily i was able to order a replacement for a 16v..

in other news ive made decisions on turbo choice of a .63 T04e or T04b (keeping internal wg's & running the vems boost solenoid.) for the time and money restraints im going to keep the stock intake manifold or get an abz or AHC s8 manifold/valley pan. i found someone who used the same atp 16v manifolds on their own 3.6 project a well know respect figure in the comunity marc swanson (http://www.motorgeek.com/viewtopic.php?) and with very slight modification to the manifold.. that honestly even i feel comfortable i could do myself with my buddies water cooled tungsten torch and a good toxic fab argon cup/gas lens

as far as keeping these heads and block i will most likely use them for mock up and fabrication of the manifolds in my parts car.. theres a 110k 3.6 automatic 91 at a local u pullit in allentown pa that would be the candidate as im sure im going to go threw a few of these 3.6s
