I replaced mine with some inexpensive Empi CV half-shaft assemblies from Amazon, only about $100 per side, free shipping. They are not as robustly built as the OEMs but they've been working fine so far. No vibration at idle at all for me, like some others have reported with the cheaper half-shafts.

I also did not have to remove the pinch bolt or control arms. What I did have to do a lot, however, was move the spindle up and down in order to get better access to the bolts and to get enough clearance to get the half shafts in/out. I did this by placing the spare tire jack under the spindle/brake assembly and cranking it up/down as needed. The car itself was on jack stands.

Start counting down the days...you have purchased the worst made shafts on the planet.

EMPI = Crap

On top of a years of countless reports of very early failures from others, the previous owner of my wife's AR had replaced a shaft JUST because of a ripped boot...wow..GENIUS!!! Within less than 10K miles, the pulsing steering feedback and ticking in low speed turns was unbelievable...inner and outer joints shot, with huge play and jam spots....EMPI !!!!!!!!!!!!

If you're gonna go cheap, ALL autoparts stores have their own version of $100 shafts with lifetime warranty (meaningless...business decision, NOT a certification of quality)...some at only $80 (the normal price of an EMPI...you paid too much, sorry).

Autozone (duralast) has MUCH beefier and documented longer lasting shafts for about $100 WITH lifetime warranty.

Good luck...you'll surely need it.
