Default here are some pointers i sent to one of our felo brothers in the b6 forum

Just to get you started on your homework, here are some areas of interests

Areas of interest (<a href="http://www.sanfranciscoonline.com/"> http://www.sanfranciscoonline.com/ </a>, <a href="http://www.sfvisitor.org/">http://www.sfvisitor.org/ </a>, <a href="http://www.inetours.com/Pages/SFNbrhds/Embarcadero.html">http://www.inetours.com/Pages/SFNbrhds/Embarcadero.html </a>, <a href="http://www.sftravel.com/union.html">http://www.sftravel.com/union.html </a> , SFGATE.COM is local to SF and has some good areas of interest: <a href="http://www.sfgate.com/">http://www.sfgate.com/</a>, has an events and performance list under the Entertainment section list: <a href="http://www.sfgate.com/listings/search.php?events"> http://www.sfgate.com/listings/search.php?events </a>);

Downtown area;
Downtown SF (shopping, food, day/night life)
Union Square area, Cable Car
Union St/Lombard (crooked street)/Chestnut St
Coit Tower
Chinatown
North Beach
Fisherman's Warf/Pier 39/Ghirardelli Sq. (<a href="http://www.ghirardellisq.com/">http://www.ghirardellisq.com/ </a> try the "Earthquake" huge pile of ice cream)
The Ferry Building (great fresh oysters, boutiques and little shops- <a href="http://www.ferrybuildingmarketplace.com/"> http://www.ferrybuildingmarketplace.com/ </a> )
The Embarcadero (more boutiques and shops)
PacBell Park (now called SBC)

Castro
Haight St
Japantown
The Presidio/Marina district
Ocean Beach (Cliff House, Golden Gate Park)
SF Zoo? (I think for every 1st Wednesday of every month it's free of charge--just thought I'd throw that in there lol)

Islands;
Tiburon/Angel Island (across GG bridge <a href="http://www.tiburon.org/"> http://www.tiburon.org/ </a>)
Treasure Island (half way on Bay Bridge to Oakland)
Alcatraz (can grab tickets at by Pier 39)

Night life;
Downtown SF
Cityscape Bar/Restaurant (nice view, food is OK, top floor of the Hilton, might have some dinner/dancing <a href="http://www.destinationpartners.com/cityscape_restaurant.htm"> http://www.destinationpartners.com/cityscape_restaurant.htm </a>)
NorthBeach has some great coffee shops, a few bars, great places to eat, near Chinatown
Chestnut St (great coffee shops, a few bars, great places to eat)
Sir Francis Drake (had a bar/dance floor in one of the floors--forgot what it was called and haven't been there for a while)

lol I don't have a huge listing on the nightlife since I've been a hermit for a while with the girlfriend and all. Also, not sure what night life you'd like.

Alright, I think that's all I can think of for now. Good luck!

Default a must in California, Yosemite, Mendocino coast, Big Sur.........

San Francisco area, Mt.Diablo in the far east bay is said to be a vantage point with the greatest amount of visible terrain in the 48 states. Quite the view.
