Definition of harsh ride

What would be the proper definition of a "harsh" ride? How is it different than a stiff ride?

I would think it's a matter of degree and completely subjective. To me a stiff ride would be where I notice all the road cracks, joints, etc. A harsh ride would be jarring and uncomfortable over the same roads. Each person would find the transition between the two to be in different places.
