Do make sure he documents it as a possible HARDWARE FAILURE in the MMI unit, since that whole system may need replacement if there's internal memory failing in it. Sooner or later, perhaps after the normal warranty run.

Just out of curiosity, does the internal storage use a traditional spinning HDD or flash/SSD?

No idea. Most new systems would put all the map data on an SD or CF card, but with Audi's penchant for using long-obsoleted technology in their systems....Look behind the cabin air filter, see what kind of floppy disks are in it.(G)

So, I got them to update the firmware, but I don't think they gave me new maps. Pretty sure 6.10.2 is an old version.
