Default no heat on driver's side

Hi everybody.
The patient is a 3.6L 2008 Q7 dual zone clime.
Now that the temperatures are dropping, my wife noticed that her side (driver) of the car is not getting warm. Passenger vents are blowing hot air while driver's not.
After a quick scan, it seems that I need to replace the "Actuating Motor for Temperature Flap"...

01809 - Actuating Motor for Temperature Flap; Left (V158)
003 - Mechanical Failure

I had a similar problem with an older Explorer and I was able to replace the part easily.
However, the Q7 seems more complex than that Explorer and I would not want to dismantle things that I don't have to.
So what I know (or think I know) is that this actuator is accessible by removing the plastic panels under the steering wheel and trying to get under the center console.

I am wondering if anybody here has some experience in this area and can tell me the shortcut to get to this actuator.
Extremely helpful will be a diagram showing the hvac parts... if anybody has one that he can share.

And on a different note...
The VCDS scan shows under each fault code, among other things, the mileage, time and date. I am curious if these are pointing to the moment when the fault happened, or they are somehow related with the PC's time and date.
Besides the HVAC fault code, my wife's Q7 has some other codes that I would not rush to fix, like:

But the thing here is that back in July the car was still under the 60 days warranty, and I was wondering if the dealer would consider that the fault happened under the warranty (and agree to fix it).
Any thoughts?
Thanks a lot for any input!
