Questions about Turbos
I had an 01 S4 back in the day and have extrememly missed it. I'm back in the market for a used one. I'm looking at a few that ahve about 120k miles on them. They have never been chipped and both are being sold by the original owner. My question is, what's the life expectancy on the turbos in an s4? It would be my everyday car so reliability is most important.

That's a crystal ball question. It really depends on how the prior owner treated the car. That being said, there are owners who have almost 200K miles on their original turbos, on the flip side, there are others who have had their snails blow at 30K miles.

nooB5 nailed it. There's no way to know without cracking them open and taking a look. At 120k without a detailed history of the car I would be prepared to shell out money for replacement turbos pretty soon.
I'll also throw this out there, no disrespect intended: a used S4 is a poor choice for a daily that needs to remain reliable. Personally, I'd look at the V6 A4, if Audi is a must.

Find a s4 with blown turbos on the cheap and then replace them, yes it'll cost slightly more then a "well maintained" s4 but in the long run, this is a 11 year old platform, their defiantly on their way out even if you get 40k miles out of em, eventually you will need to swap em, so like I said buy an s4 with blown turbos on the cheap 6k to 8k, new turbos and your set, and then it's all on you how long they last
