Based on the application chart you will want this one: http://store.ross-tech.com/shop/VCHUC.html
VCDS is a fully featured diagnostic, repair and coding tool.
You can scan for and reset DTCs on all modules and run many repair and readiness functions.
There are also things like remote window open/close, needle sweep, lowering, etc than can be coded with it.
You buy a licensed cable from Ross-Tech and then download the software to you computer.
The cable firmware and software is updated regularly and the support is excellent.
Here is the Wiki for your A4: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...riolet_(8E/8H)
The manual is online at http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/main_screen.html
And there are some very good YouTube videos showing procedures.
Audi Enthusiasts has some great info on coding too: http://www.audienthusiasts.com/
I would not waste time/money on a cheap knockoff.
Ultimately they end in frustration and are typically using stolen Ross-Tech intellectual capital.
VCDS sounds expensive to some, but they more than pay for themselves very quickly.
My dealer charges $135/hr for diagnostics - most of which I can do with VCDS.
It's a good investment along with the Bentley manual and can be used on most of the Audi/VW family.

Sorry! Only had one cup of coffee when I replied.
A6 Wiki: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...6/allroad_(4B)
Lots of additional information on several websites and in the forums.
Search/google "vagcom mods" or "vcds mods"

My 2014 Q5 TDI Prestige/S-line+ is now 2 weeks old, and have been thinking about some of the VAG-COM mods for it. In my research, I've compiled a PDF of the VAG-COM codes from various resources in figuring out what I'd like to mod. It's attached. I've included links to the resources; a big thank you to those providing the codes on various sites. Please visit their sites for any updates. PDF attached for your convenience. Good luck!
