Default question regards testing the connection..

When I do the test it comes up with

Com Port Status: OK
Adaptor Status: Found and ready...
Fast-Synch Compatible: NO

is there anything I should disable on my laptop, ..

Default Yes, it's obvious that you're using a serial cable...

The question is what kind?

One of ours? If so, which one?

I have upgraded laptop with no serial port but it came external USB to serial device.
The VagCom interface I believe is not from you I bought about two years ago of guy who was selling it, he mention he bought from Ross, but looking at the pictures on their website is different, it worked fine until I changed the laptop.
