The F103 Audi 80 is the first “true” postwar Audi. Launched in 1965, the car was named for its horsepower rating. Originally, the Audi 80 was part of a series of small cars that included the 60, 72, 75, and Super 90 models. Based on the DKW F102, it featured Audi’s new line of four-stroke four-cylinder engines and sold until 1972. It was a moderate success, selling over 40,000 units a year and helping Audi fund the development of the larger Audi 100.
