Hey fellas. Im a xomplete mechanical newbie. Im sure you get a lot of us and I could really use some help from someone who knows some things.

Model: 2004 audi A4 1.8q turbo

I got this car a year ago and its been constant problems and learning experiences. My latest problem has to do with coolant. Heres what I know.

1. Coolant is full
2. Heat periodically stops working
3. At the same time my engine heat gauge goes up fast.
4. Hasnt had a total overheat but I am cautious and I always pull over and let it cool down.
5. Problem doesn't seem to be associated with RPM.
6. No visible leaks under the car or in the cabin
7. No smell of antifreeze
I popped the hood and glared at it like a deer in headlights. I can't find where the blinker fluid goes XD

I did notice one unconnected wire under the coolant tank. Looks like it should be plugged in to this little box. Sensor?

I have never added coolant directly to the radiator
