Is this normal? vacuum, boost. after new dv and boost gauge
So heres the deal. I installed a Baileys DV and AWEs vent boost gauge last night. I installed the gauge in the center vent closest to the drivers side. It took some tinkering with the short hose they gauge me but i got it fit fine. Now before the DV and gauge install I had lots of surging going on and w/o the gauge never new what my boost was hitting. Now that I installed the Baileys DV boost is much more smooth. Although from reading the boost gauge boost doesnt come on in 1st and 2nd till about 3k at half throttle. Also in 1st and 2nd boost is holding 5 and spiking to 10. In 3rd its holding around 7-10 and spiking to 15-16. I have a 01 tt 225 6spd with just the Baileys DV installed. So my question is, is this normal boost? Or from my boost gauge install do I maybe have a leak?

You should still have boost. Even though 3rd gear pulls are the best for seeing, (1st gears rpms are quick and your in and out of quickly). Do you have any software upgrades? Only 5 psi would tell me you have a leak or running on limp mode. However, your still pulling 10-15 psi spikes so I would guess you have a leak.
Do you have any "T" fittings? Is your boost gauge getting vacume directly from the intake manifold, (as this will be your best source for your boost gauge).
