performance help
what could you guys suggest to get a bit more out of my 2000 a4 1.8t quattro? havent found a chip yet. dont know if a aftermarket dv would be worth it?? but i have heard it would. what would you say would be some good simple things to do that would count. i would like to get more boost but the only thing i can think of is bigger turbo. looking at it in the future but not just yet, so far all i have done is big brake conversion for stoping powwer. has anyone heard of turbo xs r25 dv?? or i guess what is a good bugget dv? ok enough said what are your thaught to do as far as performance add on on a bugget.

Chpping will give the most bang for the buck
A dv isn't going to give any increase in power, and is only needed after increasing boost if the stock one can't maintain the increased boost level. And don't try and save money by using a manual boost controller instead of a chip, you would just be asking for problems. Even if you upgraded the turbo you would still need ecu programming and possible fuel upgrades and would not be a budget upgrade.
Also a boost gauge is always recommended when upgrading so you can monitor boost levels and be aware of any problems.

posting your questions on the b5 a4 forum. You would get better answers from people who own the same car as you. Besides countless other mods I have APR programming for my TT and I love it but people with an A4 may feel different and have good reasons for going with a different tuning company.

As someone with a 2000 I can tell you..
The APR chip definately adds some nice HP, thought it's a little hard to drive at first since you need to modulate the throttle.
I've been told the stock DV will not hold up very well, I have an open thread asking about which DV to go to.
