DualMap
Is there anyone that can explain the dualmap on the early 2.8:s
Reading on a forum here in Sweden that lower octane gives 160hp and higer octanes gives 174hp.
From a Snowy Sweden..

Re: DualMap
When i suspect that the Swedish link wont do you much good i have been trying to find a good one in english, the closest i have come to an answer is this one over at 12v.org
"f the cylinder knock continues, the ECU will switch from the premium fuel ignition map to the ignition map for regular fuel. This allows the ignition timing to be retarded up to three additional degrees."
So i cant verify the 160hp low octane and 174hp high octane figures, but me and my son will go out and finish up his low octane (95) and fuel it up with some 98 octane and se if we can notice any difference.

http://12v.org/engine/index.php?section=hw&ver=2&comp=g66#list</a

Ahh you are talking about ignition timing being pulled by knock sensors.
Any modern fuel injected engine will do that. I've never heard it referred to as a "dual" map, it's just the way knock sensing ECUs work.

Ok, may be that. But they who discused this in the Swedish forum (Nordicaudi.com) claimed that there would be a difference in HP if you drive on 95 0r 98 octane, anything you can confirm? Makes sense though changing the ignition timing and droping a few hp if you run on a lower quality fuel.
