intake issues...

I though I had saved my stock factory air box but turns out someone threw it out from the garage. So now I'm stuck with my cone filter and am wondering if there is anyway to turn that into a ram air. Can I mount the cone where most would normally mount the air duct for ram air? Would rushing air into the cone provide any gains. I guess I could try it out and see for myself. Say I like it or notice an improvement, would rain/snow/dirt "ramming" into the cone or cone are create any problems? Thanks all!

The elements would definately pose a problem

The air filter is inside the airbox, which is elevated up & away from the initial air intake. Therefore, no rain, snow or excessive dirt is likely to get into the airbox & damage the filter. Obviously, the ram air setup will ingest more dirt than the OEM setup, but not to the same magnitude as placing a cone filter directly at the front of the car. I wouldn't suggest trying your idea because it would get real expensive real fast. The first time you go through high water on the road, your filter would most likely be trashed. But then again I wouldn't suggest driving through water that deep anyway. I do admire the idea though; definately innovative. I'm unsure about performance due to pressure buildup in the airbox as opposed to a direct route via the cone filter. I'm sure UrS4 could shed some light on this better than I can.
