Slipping Clutch or ?
I have a 96 a4q with 120k and have noticed latley that when I'm on the freeway at cruising speed whenI hit the gas the rpm jumps 200 rpm then catches before I feel any acceleration. I can get it to do the same thing in lower gears of the freeway and driving in town. I've been looking at some threads were people say that the clutch should last for longer than this even with abuse and I abuse the **** out the car.I was wondering if there could be something wrong with the dual mass flywheel ? Not having a car with one before that I know of what does the flywheel consist of . How is it dual mass?

Re: Slipping Clutch...
If your clutch is indeed slipping, which it sounds like it is, your dual mass flywheel is probably fine.
Whats going bad is the clutch disk, and or the clutch pressure plate.
9 times out of ten, the clutch disk & pressure plate get replaced when you do a clutch job. Along with the throw-out bearing & its sleeve.
The flywheels often get resurfaced, depending on their contact surface.<ul><li><a href="http://www.standardtransmission.com/dmf.html">http://www.standardtransmission.com/dmf.html</a</li></ul>

Clutch...
You may also need to consider the hydraulic system which actuates the clutch mechanism...<ul><li><a href="http://www.howstuffworks.com/clutch.htm">http://www.howstuffworks.com/clutch.htm</a</li></ul>
