Default 2000 s4 k04 troubleshooting

Did a k04 install some time ago. After install it never ran right always ending up in limp mode with a Mutli bank too rich. AWE was no help, so it was parked and sat in the back of the shop. Well 3 years later call AWE to try and get it going. AWE tells us we need to buy a "update" to the stage3 kit we got long ago. Thanks for telling me now, could have sent a email to those who ponyed up for the stage3 kits long ago. So send them more cash and we get back a MAF that we have to hand splice into our old connector, and ecu flashed. Good times. So I'm looking for a little help so I can get this car back on the road so I can sell it. Car will pass CA smog fine so I could sell it as is but I'd like to try and get it going good first. I have a vag com to use. Looking for what items I should start to chase down. Should I call AWE again? Send them more cash. Know anyone in San Francisco or around the Bay good with a modded s4?


2000 s4 23,000miles
AWE k04 turbos and rs4 fueling kit.
AWE fueling kit, "updated" Hatachi maf I think.
AWE full exhaust
AWE manifolds

what codes are you getting? did you pressure test it?

Default injectors properly oriented? what fueling kit do you have, i.e., what injectors?

are your O2 and EGT sensors working properly?
you used stock plugs?
if you are Hitachi MAF, did they program the chip right?
will it start, or is it just running rich?
can you post a list of the codes it's throwing?
have you pressure tested for boost leaks?

Plugs are stock, I replaced them after install.

As for injector orientation? Hmmm I put them in just like the pictures and like the old ones. I do not know what injectors I'm on. AWE sent them.

No clue on what code my ECU is running. AWE flashed it.

As for trouble codes. If I don't get on it the check light will come on and stay on with codes for both banks to rich. If I reset the ecu I can get it to show a "pending" for Mutlibank missfire.

PSI test to 20psi hold fine.

replaced O2 sensors yet? if you unplug the MAF, does it run better?
