Default EGT vin splits

I know this prob has been beaten to death. I can't find anything on it. Yes I used the ****ing search so don't go there. I have a '00 S4 early vin with manual trans. My EGTs are toast I know this. I have asked my parts guys I used to work with and other friends in the VW/Audi parts depts. Every time I order the bank 1 (passenger side) sensor I always get the brown sensor with the keyed connector. My engine has both BLACK sensors that are just like the bank 2 sensor with a non keyed connector. Has or do people shave down the keyed part on the brown sensor. I understand they are both 3 pin connectors and shouldn't matter. And if you have does it affect anything. I'm at my wits end with these ****ing parts people that can't give me straight answers.

Default I believe you should be able to shave down the keyed part and be fine.

In fact, Audi's latest part number release has one part number for both of them, so maybe the finally removed the keyed part?

Probably not.

Oh, and for future reference, your search skills aren't up to my Search Master skills.

You'll get there. Dropping the F bomb probably didn't help you use the Force, my son.

the new part is a sooped to a kit that contains both right and left sensors. The kit contains one brown and one black sensor. I asked my old foreman that went back to being an audi tech about shaving the keyed part down and he said most likely won't affect it. Thanks for the links. Now I don't have to return that kit that I got!

Default yeah, and said kit is like $600! Still, call Carson at Riverside Audi and

have him give you the Audiworld discount. Knocks it down to somewhere around $500 or so.

oh wait, you've already got a kit. Oh well...

Default I think that's about what Carson gets them for, so that's good.

oh, and you can use the subject line for short replies. Makes it easier to browse a thread.
