Default How long til my turbos go out?

I have a '01 A6 2.7T with 85K. Have flashed ECU to APR 93 octane, installed Samco TBB (bipipe wouldnt fit 2.7 with tip), APR R1 DV's, APR cat-back, and EVO V-flow CAI. Maintained by changing VC gaskets, cam seals, Serp and timing belt kit, fuel filter and plugs, PCV valve hose, boost hoses, Mann filter with ELF synth. Run 93 Octane regularly, drive modestly with traffic with extra boost now and then when an annoying Civic or similar wants to impress me with their exhaust pipe. So far no signs of decreased boost or power failure. My next plans are to compliment the 18" RS4 reps with a 1-2" drop. But my question is do I need to upgrade to KO4's and piggies before I kill these KO3's. I would rather wait until after I drop it to start saving for the 4's and pigs. Any input would help. Thanks

what sounds like a good job on maintaining them.

Default put my ecu back to stock

the dentist drill had been getting louder and louder and then big poofs of white smoke under wot. put back to stock and no more smoke and the sound is much more quiet. for whatever thats worth.

Default I hear your concern. I blew my stockers last month....

Similar mods; drop-in, EVOMS DV's, UUC VM cat back, Silicone hoses, GIACX....obsessively warmed and cooled the motor, had 75K miles. The car was properly warmed up, on mild acceleration then..."Poof"...impeller wheel buzzing off the housing. No loud dentist drill or clouds of smoke though? just annoying buzzing past 3000RPM. Went all out with AWE Stage III and accompanying doodads,...why not? the motor was out. Currently in debt for the next 6 months but man, the power is on a completely different level...simply awe-inspiring.

So to answer your question, you can check out S-cars.org. A couple of years ago, they posted results from an 2.7T owner's poll re. when their KKK03's blew. Apparently, 75K seems to be right within the bell curve and within one standard deviation from median. Sooo, you've been lucky. A testament to your maintanence regimen. But the bad news is....they will blow, like quickaudi mentioned, maybe tomorrow, maybe next month, maybe next year...but it's as close to inevitable as Britney Spears and her next check into rehab.
