Humming Sound Coming when I drive the car
When I drive my car down the road there is a steady humming sound, kind've like a "mmmm" sound. It soundes like it is coming from the front right wheel or the front of the car in general. What could this be? A rotor?

Re: Humming Sound Coming when I drive the car
it sounds like someone humming a single pitch between 30 to 60 mph, once i am driving steady on the highway i don't hear it. It sounds like it is coming from the front right tire, specifically. Like I said, if you were to go to a piano and play a single note, medium pitch, not low and not high, that is what it sounds like. Would this be expensive to fix?

Your situation sounds more like a tire issue than wheel bearing. WB will make noise at all speeds,
it just typically gets louder the faster you go. WB will also change pitch slightly during a turn to one side or the other. Check tire inflation pressures, tire wear, etc. If any one tire is different from the others, this should be your clue. Make sure the other noise from the car isn't drowning out the problem noise at higher speeds. Certain brands/styles of tires will make more noise than others or make their noise at different speeds and it will vary depending on road surface (asphalt vs concrete).
If it really is a WB, then it will be about $120 at mid priced independent shop, maybe $170 or so at a dealer. If it is a WB, it will get progressively worse but you will have a few months usually before it gets so bad it will cause performance issues.

Yeah, I agree 100% - I was just <trying> to be witty. When my wheel bearing first went, I
thought it was the tires. I needed new tires anyway, but when the new tires went on and the noise went away, I thought I was good. Then it came back with a vengeance like 2 days later and I realized the temp absence of noise was just due to the wheel mounting/dismounting associated with getting new tires. Didn't really cause any harm in my case, but I'd hate to see anyone have the bearing seize on them due to ignoring the situation or as the result of an incorrect diagnosis.
