Default Looking at buying upgraded A6 2.7....come on in for details

Thanks in advance for the help!

I'm looking at switching over to the import side and picking up an upgraded Audi A6.

I've previously owned and built muscle cars, but my knowledge of imports, as far as turbos and programming, is limited.

Looking at the following car:

2002 Audi A6 2.7 bi-turbo
120,000 miles
30,000 on an automatic transmission
New KO4 upgrade with stage 3 minus soft ware
New oil return lines for turbos
New bar fuel pressure regulator
New timingchain
New thermostat
New plugs
value cover gasket
New chain tensioner
New EGR and breather pipe assembley
New transmission tourque converter
New pusher cooling fan
New puller cooling fans
New air intake and filter
New water pump
New cooling sensor
New oil level sensor
Replaced all ignition coils.
New battery

He's asking $10,000 for it. Is this a fair price? Anything I should watch out for as far as issues with the K04 turbos and the software upgrade? He has receipts for all the items listed, so hopefully there aren't any issues there.

It's WAY expensive. Also, K04's with "stage 3" tuning will likely make short work of the transmission. I'd steer clear, regardless of the price. If you want a 400hp A6, stick with a 6sp manual.

For a car that's been flogged like that, I wouldn't even consider paying more than $5k and you'd better make friends with someone who knows how to rebuild that trans.

Also, that car has a timing BELT. It's just about due for it's 2nd change. You're looking at $1000-1200 to have a shop do it or a day or two of your time, a few hundred bucks in parts, and some specialized tools (cam bar and crank lock) if you do it yourself. Welcome to the world of German automobiles...pick up your tube of Astroglide at the door on your way out.

Best,

Default Good purchase???

You CAN buy similar cars for less but considering what has been done, its an OK purchase providing the brakes and tires are very good, no accident history and no rust! $8000 would be a better buy!

I have an A6 2.7T 6 speed, 2 owner car, most of the same things done and I paid $4500 with 220,oookms NOT miles (130K miles)
