01-s4, good clutch, 2 years old with no beating... but all of a sudden wont go in gear... any pointers?

The same thing happened to me two days in a row. Worst was when I had to launch away from a light in 5th. But then as quickly as as the problem surfaced it was gone. As I drove it up to the shop it started shifting smooth again and hasn't stopped since. And this was about a year or two ago. Might be able to find my post from then in the archives.

BTW the mechanic drove it and said my clutch felt stiff to him and was probably on its' way out, but he had no problem shifting. Said I would likely need a new clutch sooner than later. I left thinking I would be back soon to get that done but the problem has never come back. My clutch does still feel stiff compared to other 2.7T manuals. If I remember correctly he also said another possibility could have been the slave cylinder.
