Re: timing belt ??
Doing it yourself if pretty hard due to the tools needed. Personally I would change the T belt on the 2.7 engine at about every 70K. I've seen too many tensioners fail around 80K and cause serious engine damage.

Re: timing belt and samco hose kit
I was considering a samco hose kit on my allroad which is about to hit 80k no problems but do you think I'd save money by doing both the hoses and the Tbelt at the same time?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I got prices from 800 to 1400. (read below)>>>
I got several different prices for a timing belt from several different Audi dealers. Prices ranged from 800.00 to 1400.00. I can only assume that some dealers will only replace the belt and water pump, while others will go the extra mile and replace the tensioner and idler pulleys, as well as the thermostat. I decided to buy the necessary tools, and replace everything behind the front covers. Now, when I do it the next time, I have all the tools to do it on my other 2.7. By the way, I was told that any where before 90k miles was a good time to do the timing belt.

Quote I got from a shop.
At this interval, the timing belt, water pump, tensioner dampner, tensioner, idler bearing, thermostat, coolant and serpentine belt are all replaced together. They comprise the "timing belt" apparatus.
Parts and labor for this job run $1300 plus tax. It is the only way it should be done. The front bumper and entire radiator core support are removed for access, thus the labor takes one day.
PS: Let me know if you guys have other quotes from Shops.
